Boy Bashed up by Teacher, Hospitalised

DHENKANAL: A Class IX student, Akshya Biswal, sustained severe injuries after being allegedly bashed up by his Mathematics teacher in Mandara High School here on Wednesday.

Sources said a group of children were creating disturbance in the class and subsequently, there was a complaint that Akshya had pasted chewing gum on the hand of another student.

Following this, Mathematics teacher Hemant Bhuyan verbally abused Akshya and then bashed him up. The boy was rescued by other teachers in the school and admitted to a local clinic.

“He has been advised rest by the doctors,” said his father, Sachua Biswal.

Meanwhile, the local Sarpanch has called for a parent-teacher meeting in the school on Thursday. Villagers have demand stern action against the erring teacher.

District Education Officer (DEO), Sipra Nayak, said the school headmaster has been asked to inquire into the incident and submit report as soon as possible.
