BARGARH:  After toiling hard for 16 long hours, forest officials managed to trap a leopard, that had entered into a house in Dungripali village on Tuesday.

The animal strayed into the village on Tuesday morning and attacked Snehalata Satnami (55) and his son Ajit (26) while they were sitting in front of their house. However, as Snehalata resisted, the leopard ran into a room following which she bolted the door from outside.

Officials of Bargarh and Sambalpur forest division and Hirakud wildlife division led by DFO Ajay Kumar Jena rushed to the spot and launched an operation to trap the leopard. The officials first tried to catch the animal by putting a cage in front of the door which proved futile. Later, a net was put in place and the animal was intimidated with fire. In its attempt to escape, the leopard entered into the cage.
