KHURDA: Manab Pradhan of Chiramaru village under Khurda police limits was sentenced to life imprisonment by Additional District and Sessions Judge Amiya Kumar Sahu on Tuesday after he was convicted of sodomy and murder of a minor boy on August 30, 2012.
Nine-year-old Bhudia was playing in a school when the accused took him to the village graveyard by promising to give him snacks and sodomised him. He then throttled him to death and threw the body in a pond. Villagers found the body floating in the pond next day and informed police. Based on locals’ statements, Manab was arrested. During interrogation, the accused confessed to have committed the crime.
Examining the witness, the judge announced life imprisonment and also slapped a fine of `2000 on the convict.
