Bonus Sought for Contract Labourers

TALCHER: Former MP Sriballav Panigrahi has accused the MCL of not complying with the decisions on bonus payment to contractual workers that were taken at a high-level meeting of Coal India Limited (CIL) recently.

In a letter to the CMD of MCL, he wrote that as per decisions taken at the eighth joint bipartite committee meeting of CIL on September 19, CIL subsidiary companies should pay puja bonus to contractual workers. “Despite this, the company is yet to announce puja bonus to thousands of contract workers employed in its coal mines,” he wrote in the letter.

On the other hand, president of Mahanadi Koila Thika Sramika Congress, Raj Kishore Sahu has threatened to resort to agitation along with other members of the association if MCL fails to pay bonus to them by October 11.
