BHUBANESWAR:  A showcause notice was issued to Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Monday for an alleged violation of the model code of conduct in connection with the Kandhamal Lok Sabha bypoll. Returning Officer and District Collector N

Thirumala Naik issued the showcause notice, after BJP district general secretary Debanarayan Pradhan lodged a complaint with the Phulbani Town Police Station against the minister for model code violation, while addressing an election meeting at Kotagarh on September 30.

The returning officer has also asked the minister not to make such statements again during the electioneering, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Jyoti Prakash Dash told Express. The minister has been told to give his version of the incident, Dash added. While addressing an election meeting at Kotagarh in Baliguda assembly segment, the minister had allegedly asked the BJD workers to ensure the victory of party candidate Pratyusha Rajeswari without any fear as the government officials and police are working on state government’s instructions.
