BHUBANESWAR: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Monday commissioned its first solar plant of two mw capacity at its headquarters at Sambalpur. Secretary, Ministry of Coal, SK Srivastava commissioned the plant in the presence of MCL CMD AN Sahay. Spread over an area of eight acres, the plant has been set up at `13.54 crore. It is expected to reduce power bills of the PSU by `1.11 crore a year and the power generated will feed the existing 11 KV grid of State transmission utility Wesco.
