CCTV Eye on Kali Puja Pandals

JAJPUR:  The district administration will keep a vigil on mischief mongers through CCTV cameras during Kali Puja this year. It has been decided to install CCTV cameras at six highly sensitive locations having Kali Puja pandals in the town to keep criminals, pickpockets, bike lifters and chain snatchers at bay.

Those places are Gariapur, Narayan Chowk, Badabazaar, Jodikua Chowk, Kianalikul and Ballavi Ghat Chowk.

Collector Anil Kumar Samal said with Kali Puja being one of the biggest festivals in Jajpur, security provisions need to be strengthened during the event that attracts lakhs of visitors for a week.

This year, 50 pandals would come up in Jajpur town for the puja which begins on October 23. Immersion would take place on October 29 and 30.

The puja committees have been asked to strictly adhere to pollution norms and restrict sound limit at the pandals.
