Odisha Extends Rs 5 Crore Aid to Cyclone-hit AP

BHUBANESWAR : The State Government on Wednesday announced an assistance of `five crore for the people of cyclone-hit Andhra Pradesh.

Expressing sympathy for the people affected by the severe cyclonic storm Hud Hud, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the people of Odisha are with the affected people of Andhra Pradesh in this difficult time.

The State Government, which had sent 28 fire brigade and two Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams to Andhra Pradesh for relief and rescue operations, provided one lakh litres of OMFED milk and linked power supply to the State.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister asked his Ministers to oversee relief and restoration works in the cyclone-hit South Odisha districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Gajapati districts.  As per the directive, Ministers who are the chairpersons of District Planning Boards, will leave for their respective districts on Thursday to take stock of relief and restoration work.          ens
