BHUBANESWAR : A first of its kind digital library was inaugurated at Xavier University, Bhubaneswar (XUB) here on Thursday in presence of Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy and Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahoo. The highlight of the library is Xavier Cloud which will allow easy flow of information between the students and the faculty. With the inauguration, XUB officials claimed that the university is now the first ever digital university in the country. The Xavier One Portal is designed to be a one-stop platform for all the IT solutions. The digital library will encompass Xavier Videobook, Xavier Skillport, Xavier SIMS. Besides, Xavier My Room will provide a platform to host virtual classroom and allow peer-interactions through video conferencing. The digital library contains more than 39,000 titles. Maharathy said XUB should strive to keep up with the advances in the education sector. Sahoo lauded the efforts of XUB and reminded the students of their responsibility towards society. XUB Vice-Chancellor Paul Fernandes said with fast changing technology, the methodology used for teaching future managers needs to be overhauled.
