BHUBANESWAR : The State Government on Wednesday decided to resume enrolment of farmers under Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana (BKKY) which was stopped due to general elections in April.
The decision was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary GC Pati. All 30 districts of three zones have been included in its fold.
The scheme is aimed at providing health insurance benefit to farmers irrespective of their income level. The families registered under fishing and animal husbandry occupations have also been brought the scheme’s fold.
Officials sources said the total coverage of BKKY so far has been 51,68,434 against current year’s target of 60 lakh, thereby recording an achievement of more than 86 per cent.
This includes 23,10,649 families enrolled under stream-I and 28,57,785 families enrolled under stream-II.
The Chief Secretary asked the Department concerned to match the enrolment with NPR (National Population Register) for making the process more accurate and transparent.
