BERHAMPUR: Five firearms and 11 rounds of ammunition were seized from the house of Ashok Kumar Sahu of Routpeta street in Aska road during a police raid on Friday. Sahu, who had allegedly procured the firearms from Kolkata, was arrested. Besides the firearms, Rs 5.35 lakh in cash was found from Sahu’s possession. The firearms includes three revolvers and two pistols.

While a revolver was sold for Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000, a pistol fetched him Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000. Though police refused to divulge further details for investigation purpose, sources said the cops have got clues about Sahu’s customers in the city. Berhampur SP Sarthak Sarangi said raids are on to nab them.

The SP further said Berhampur police had last week raided a gambling den that was operating from a house near Girisola and arrested nine persons besides making a seizure of Rs 2.35 lakh. The house owner claimed ownership of the money, but when asked to produce details about the source of the money, he backed out.
