BHUBANESWAR: A 38-year-old railway technician was found murdered in railway colony at Mancheswar here on wee hours of Monday.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested the wife of the deceased in this connection. The accused, Mamta Nayak, allegedly stoned her husband Hadibandhu Das to death after he assaulted her on Sunday night, police said.
“Hadibandhu was an alcoholic and abused Mamata regularly. In a fit of rage, Mamata hit her husband with a stone and he died minutes after being attacked,” the police said.
Sources said there were frequent fights between the couple earlier. On the fateful day, Das cast an evil eye on Mamata’s sister which the wife could not tolerate.
Mamata was arrested and produced in a court which sent her to judicial custody.
