SALEPUR:Tension prevailed on the premises of Sadguru Medical and Research Centre at Jagatpur near Cuttack following the death of a 32-year-old woman allegedly due to medical negligence on Monday morning.
The woman, Kiran Bala Nayak, was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of gastroenteritis at about 7 pm on Sunday. But no doctor attended her leading to deterioration of her condition, said her husband Bijay Kumar Nayak.
Kiran Bala’s lower abdomen started swelling and her condition worsened from midnight. At about 6 am on Monday, a doctor checked and rushed her to the ICU and about 15 minutes later, he declared her dead, Nayak said.
Soon after her death, some locals of Imam Nagar staged a dharna in front of the hospital demanding stringent action against the doctor concerned and the hospital authorities.
Nayak filed an FIR at Jagatpur police station alleging that his wife died due to lack of timely treatment.
The dharna was withdrawn after ACP Trinath Mishra assured them of inquiring into the issue and taking action against the doctor as well as hospital authorities.
