BHUBANESHWAR: General Manager of Hotel Trident Abhimanyu Lodha appeared before Nayapalli Police on Wednesday in connection to the stay of Deccan Chronicle Group Vice-President PK Iyer in the hotel for past one month.

Lodha was interrogated for two hours on his acquaintance with Iyer, and why he helped Iyer's stay in the hotel with an assumed name. Iyer had been staying at the hotel since a month assuming the name of a woman Chitra Athwani.

During his interrogation Lodha submitted documents which Iyer had produced while checking into the hotel, sources said.

Iyer, an accused in a multi-hundred crore bank loan scam was absconding till he was arrested by the Police Commissionerate on June 7. Iyer was handed over to the CBI which produced him in a court at Nampally in Hyderabad a day later.

Lodha had earlier mentioned that Iyer was a corporate guest and regular to the hotel. However, he denied to comment on why rooms in the hotel were booked on multiple occasions either on his name or in the name of Chitra.

On Monday, two senior Trident Executives appeared at the police station after Lodha failed to present himself citing personal issues.

Bhubnaeswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi has booked a case against the hotel for assisting Iyer to book a stay under impersonation.

A summon has already been sent to Chitra who works with an airline company as a hostess, Bhoi said to this paper.
