BHUBANESWAR: The admission process for Plus Three colleges in the State will begin on June 22. The Higher Education Department on Tuesday announced that students can apply both online and offline from June 22. The last dates for online and offline submission of Common Application Forms (CAFs) are July 6 and 7 respectively.
The first cut-off marks would be announced on July 15 while the first phase admission will be held from July 16 to 20, said Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahy.
The second selection merit list will be out on July 25 and admission from it would be conducted from July 27 to 29. Similarly, admissions to the balance seats will be done on August 6 and regular classes would begin on the same day.
This year, the seat strength in 706 degree colleges is 1,73,262. Recently, the department increased the seat strength in all colleges by 20 per cent.
For 2015-16 academic session, the department has de-linked the centralised e-admissions to post-graduate courses of seven autonomous colleges. These are RD Women’s (Autonomous) College, GM (Autonomous) College and Khallikote Autonomous College, which are being upgraded as Rama Devi Women’s University, GM Unitary University and Khallikote Cluster University respectively in 2015-16 session. The four other colleges are Binayak Acharya College, Gopalpur College, SBR Government Women’s College and Chhatrapur Science College. These four colleges will be constituent colleges of Khallikote Cluster University.
The new universities will independently conduct Plus Three and PG admissions through Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL).
Last year, as a large number of seats remained vacant in both junior and degree colleges after three phases of admissions, the Higher Education Department filled those through fresh admissions. This phase of admission, though, was conducted offline and fresh CAFs were submitted at the colleges.
Sources said similar step will be taken this year if the situation warrants. The applicants, who are not allotted seat during online admission and vacant seat admission, besides those who are selected but cannot take admission due to various reasons, will be eligible to apply. Last year, of 1,62,540 seats in 705 degree colleges, 15,995 had remained vacant.
