ROURKELA: A section of tribals, who have been protesting merger of two gram panchayats with the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC), on Tuesday staged an agitation against the ‘anti-tribal’ remarks of former bureaucrat Livnus Kindo.
They also gheraoed the Brahmani Tarang (BT) police station demanding action against a non-tribal group which had allegedly assaulted some of them on May 19.
In an interview to a local daily, Kindo had reportedly justified the merger of the two gram panchayats with RMC. Protesting this, they burnt his effigy.
Later, they gheraoed the BT police station and sought action against 14 non-tribals accused in an attack on them.
