SALEPUR: A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured after he was stabbed by owner of a mobile repairing shop at Sisua market under Salepur police limits on Saturday night. The injured boy, Om Mishra, was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, by some traders in the market.
Police said the accused, Dipak Kumar Sahu, had secretly transferred the photograph of Om’s elder sister from her mobile phone when she had gone to his shop to get her handset repaired a few months back.
Later, he morphed her photograph along with another man and circulated it in social media with an aim to spoil her image.
Sources said Dipak was in love with the girl and used to blackmail her using the morphed pictures.
On Saturday, when Om went to Dipak’s shop at about 8 pm to repair his mobile phone, he saw Dipak tampering his sister’s picture in a computer and protested. This led to a quarrel between the two following which Dipak stabbed Om on neck and hand. Later, Dipak left Om bleeding in the shop and closed it before fleeing, said Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Salepur police station Prasant Kumar Majhi. On hearing Om’s screams, local businessmen broke open the shop and rescued him.
A seriously injured Om was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack and his condition is stated to be stable.
A blood-stained shirt has been seized from the shop but no FIR was filed in the case, said Majhi.
