Ensure Timely Loans to Farmers: CM

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked Department of Cooperation to prepare a road map for implementation of an appropriate monitoring mechanism for granting loans to farmers.

The Chief Minister, who reviewed activities of Cooperation Department during the last one year at a meeting at the Secretariat on Saturday, asked officials to ensure timely release of loans to farmers at the time of their need. He advised officials to make Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies one stop destination for all facilities available to farmers. Besides, he asked officials to complete threshing yards in villages having a population of 5,000 by 2017.

The Department was also asked to make available financial assistance, benefits, payment for paddy procured to farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer to bank accounts within a definite timeframe.Naveen asked officials to upgrade PACSs and mandis using available resources and submit a report within one month. He also asked the officers to prepare a road map for computerisation of agricultural cooperative societies.
