BHUBANESWAR:The Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), here, which has added a new facility for out-patients on its premises, will start its services from Wednesday, marking Utkal Divas.
The facility has been created to extend outpatient service in specified areas only. Until now, RMRC was providing bi-weekly OPD service at Capital Hospital.
At its new OPD, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) arm will cover management of filariasis and investigation of haemoglobinopathy, acute respiratory infections and viral diseases. Tuberculosis treatment such as DOTS therapy under RNTCP will also be provided at the RMRC facility.
The OPD was inaugurated on January 31 by Secretary, Department of Health Research and DG, ICMR Dr VM Katoch. The OPD will operate from 9 am to 1 pm on week days. On Saturday, Sunday and Government holidays, it will remain closed, RMRC sources said.
Meanwhile, the OPD service provided by RMRC at Capital Hospital will continue till end of April.
