Girl Student of Ashram School Dies

KHANDAPARA: A Class VIII student of a Government Ashram School died on Wednesday morning. Jali Mallick (13) of Nimapatana village in Banamalipur gram panchayat was studying in the school with her two younger sisters and a brother.

On Tuesday night after dinner, Jali and her sister went to sleep in a hostel room but Jali was found unconscious on Wednesday morning.

On being informed, Hostel in-charge and headmistress in-charge Sulochana Mallick rushed Jali to a local hospital where the doctor declared her brought dead.

After post-mortem, the body was handed over to her father Biswanath Mallick. Khandapara SDPO Jagannath Mallick said reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained.

Tehsildar, Magistrate and District Welfare Officer (DWO) who rushed to the spot said investigation would be conducted to know the reason behind her death.

Man Killed in Mishap

One Fakir Kumar Nayak (43) of Niladripur village in Nuagan block of Nayagarh district was killed after being hit by a four-wheeler on the main road in Badheisahi of Khandapara NAC.

A severely injured Nayak was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. 

Police have seized the vehicle and the driver is being interrogated.
