BHUBANESWAR: The body of an unidentified youth was found floating in river Kuakhai near Balakati bridge here on Monday morning.
A group of fishermen from Balakati spotted the body and informed police which sent it for autopsy to the Capital Hospital. The deceased was wearing a brown coloured trouser and a half-sleeved shirt. The body had started decomposing.
Zonal ACP Akshaya Mishra said there was no external injury mark on the body and the police suspect it could either be a case of drowning or poisoning.
“Investigation is at its preliminary stage and we are waiting for the autopsy reports to ascertain the cause of death,” Mishra said.
So far, no one has claimed the body which will be kept in the mortuary for two days. A case of unnatural death was registered in this connection at Balianta police station.
