10-year-old Injured Leopard Rescued in Angul

ANGUL:  Forest officials rescued a 10-year-old injured leopard from Nakchi PWD quest house on Monday morning.

The leopard, which apparently sneaked from Nakchi jungle, had sustained injury in his left leg which made it immovable. Though the exact cause of injury has not been ascertained, it is suspected that the wild animal might have got injured by a vehicle while crossing the NH-55 at Nakchi.

The leopard was spotted bleeding by the locals in a bush on the premises of the guest house.

As people gathered to look at the injured animal, the forest officials arrived on being informed. Police were also deployed to control the crowd and prevent the animal from being scared.

“The injured leopard was tranquilised and shifted to nearby Handappa forest range office where the treatment was carried on by doctors of OUAT and local veterinary surgeon,” said Regional Chief Conservator of Forest Anup Nayak.
