KENDRAPARA: A woman and her infant daughter were found dead at Jalakana village under Mahakalpada police limits in Kendrapara district on Monday. Bodies of the 25-year woman and her daughter were retrieved from a pond. They have been identified as Pankajini Paitala, wife of Sanjay Paitala of the village, and her one-year-old daughter Priyanka.

Locals saw the bodies floating and informed the police. While police are awaiting the post-mortem report to know the exact cause of death, father of Pankajini, Hrushikesh has filed a police complaint alleging that his daughter and grand-daughter were murdered. He alleged that Sanjay and his parents killed them on Sunday night and dumped the bodies in the pond. Sanjay works as a mason in Bhubaneswar.

While Sanjay fled from the village after the incident, police have detained his parents for questioning.
