BHUBANESWAR: The demand for complete prohibition is growing in the State with the Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress (OPMC) on Tuesday taking out a rally in its support and submitting a nine-point charter of demands to the Government on the issue.
The demands include complete prohibition of manufacture and sale of country liquor, decision to shut foreign liquor shops in phase-wise manner within a year and non-issuance of licence for opening of new liquor shops.
Citing the example of Bihar, the Congress activists demanded that Odisha must follow suit as liquor is the cause of domestic violence and is ruining many families.
The Mahila Congress has decided to continue the agitation at panchayat and block levels across the State.
