BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate of Police was granted two-day remand of the two accused in Self-Help Group (SHG) scam by SDJM’s court on Monday. The duo was taken for custodial interrogation from Bhubaneswar Special Jail by Laxmi Sagar Police on Tuesday.
Police had sought five-day remand of the accused Manorama Parida and Ranjan Rout who have allegedly swindled more than `5 lakh from SHG workers.
A case of cheating was registered in this connection at Laxmi Sagar police station. Besides, more than 20 SHG workers have written to the Economic Offences Wing of State Crime Branch to take up the case and conduct a thorough enquiry.
