CUTTACK: In a major setback to Ravenshaw University, the Orissa High Court on Wednesday quashed the recruitment advertisement for 141 faculty positions and directed for a fresh notification within four weeks.
The division bench of Justice I Mohanty and Justice DP Chowdhury has ordered the University authorities to complete selection and appointment process within eight weeks thereafter.
A batch of writ petitions had been filed by candidates Dr Manoranjan Behura and several others challenging the advertisement by the University. Their main ground was that the advertisement had been issued in violation of the UGC guidelines.
The court, after considering the case, was satisfied that the advertisement as well as the corrigendum issued thereafter was not in accordance with the UGC guidelines and quashed the case.
The University had issued advertisement inviting application for filling up 141 vacancies of Lecturer, Readers and Professors in different faculty positions during June last year.
