Navodaya II in Balimela by 2017

MALKANGIRI:  Construction work of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV)-II building at Balimela town, located 30 km away from here, is in full swing and likely to be ready by January, 2017.

The tender for the much awaited JNV-II building, with an estimated cost of `29 crore, was floated by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and the work is being executed by Bhubaneswar-based PWD contractor.

Though the site selection for school building was done much earlier, the construction work was started in April this year after the soil testing and intervention of Collector D Prashant Kumar Reddy.

Sources said currently, JNV-II is being run in a temporary building at Malkangiri town. It will be shifted to Balimela town once the new building is ready for use.

Following persistent demands of locals, the Central Government had sanctioned the JNV-II at Balimela town for the benefit of tribal and poor students of cut-off areas of the district.

The JNV-I is running at Malkangiri town.
