VIMSAR Medicos Call Off Agitation

SAMBALPUR:  With the High Court sticking to its guns on accommodation of students of Sardar Rajas Medical College, Jaring in Kalahandi district in VIMSAR and MKCG Medical Colleges besides private medical colleges, the medicos of VIMSAR called off their stir on Saturday.

The students had been staging dharna on the premises of VIMSAR besides locking the gate since November 21 against the High Court decision. They also boycotted classes and took out rallies in Burla, Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar demanding the State Government to move the High Court with a request to review its decision.

They claimed that with VIMSAR already reeling under faculty crunch and shortage of required infrastructure, accommodating more students would reflect on the quality of education.

VIMSAR Students’ Union president Jayashankar Mishra said they decided to call off their agitation as their studies were being affected. They have resolved to move the Supreme Court seeking relief by apprising it of the ground realities.
