Bhubaneswar Mayor Pays Surprise Visit to Aahar Centre

Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena made a surprise visit to the Aahar centre on the premises of Capital Hospital here on Tuesday.

BHUBANESWAR:  Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena made a surprise visit to the Aahar centre on the premises of Capital Hospital here on Tuesday.

He spent more than two and a half hours inside the centre and inquired about the quality and quantity aspects of the food items served there.

Jena also inspected the place where utensils are washed and interacted with officials of Akshaya Patra Foundation on sanitation of the building.

He also discussed the quantity of rice and ‘dalma’ served to people who mainly constitute the attendants of patients coming to the hospital.

“Aahar centres mainly cater to physically challenged, senior citizens, patients, women, children and students. It is essential to check that the food does not get contaminated due to improper sanitation and better service standards should be introduced,” Jena said.

Deputy Mayor K Shanti, BMC officials and doctors of Capital Hospital also accompanied the Mayor during his visit.
