Arrested for Swindling Rs 40Lakh ATM Money

NUAPADA: Roshan Ranjan Deep (24) of Runibasa village in Boden block was arrested by Khariar Police on Thursday for allegedly swindling `40,03,900 that was meant to be deposited in an ATM of SBI.

The bank had outsourced the job of refilling cash in 10 ATMs under Khariar SBI in the district to Mumbai-based Writer Safeguard Private Limited.

The agency had employed Deep for the job. Sources said every time Deep refilled cash in the ATMs, he kept aside some money and this was going on for the last three months.

The incident came to light after the Chief Manager of the bank  smelt a rat in the cash deposit process and reported the matter to the Khariar Police.

Deep was arrested and on interrogation, he  confessed to have used the money for gambling.
