JAGATSINGHPUR: Villagers of Nuagaon staged demonstration outside the Upper Primary School on Friday demanding suspension and arrest of a teacher who has been accused of sexually abusing a minor student of the school.

The girl, who is a Class VII student, was being allegedly sexually abused by the teacher Ashok Lenka for the last one month. Lenka also threatened her of dire consequence if she informed her parents or school authorities about it.

Two days back, he allegedly molested her in the presence of 30 other students in the class. The girl’s classmates then urged her to tell her mother about it.  After knowing about the incident, the victim’s mother submitted a written complaint to the headmistress of the school, who informed the School and Mass Education authorities. Subsequently, Assistant Block Education Officer Sukanta Raul and CRCC Sitanath Sathpathy conducted an inquiry and found the allegation to be true. Meanwhile, the girl’s father lodged an FIR in Nuagaon police station on Friday.
