Police Seek Three-day Remand of Accused

BHUBANESWAR:  The Commissionerate of Police has moved the Bhubaneswar SDJM’s court seeking a three-day remand of the accused who were arrested on Friday for murdering a doctor couple at Sailashree Vihar here in November.

The three accused, Kishore Behera alias Timpa, Md Kamal Khan alias Muna and Phulsari Behera alias Nini, were booked on murder charges and produced in Bhubaneswar SDJMs court which sent them to judicial custody.

The investigators are clueless regarding the whereabouts of two other accused Tikina Behera and her husband Jawan Naik, who played an active role in plotting the robbery and subsequently, murdering the couple Prafulla Mishra and wife Sushama.

Three police teams have been stationed in southern districts of the State to trace Tikina and Jawan. Sources said the duo had fled to Andhra Pradesh after the incident and went into hiding in Phulbani for some time. The custodial interrogation of the arrested would provide crucial information about the duo which is still at large, DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.
