CM Target for OMFED

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday asked the authorities of Orissa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (OMFED) to set a target to procure 10 lakh litres of milk daily by 2019.

The Chief Minister, who reviewed the activities of OMFED at the Secretariat here, asked officials to maintain quality of all products launched by it and take steps to strengthen the marketing infrastructure.

OMFED procures 5.2 lakh litres of milk everyday through 5448 milk cooperative societies in rural areas. Eighty per cent of the money collected from the sale go to 2.8 lakh farmers. The meeting also discussed increasing OMFED’s working capital and setting up new ancillary plants.
