BERHAMPUR: Gold and silver ornaments that were stolen from a jewellery shop at Balipadar on October 31 were seized from the house of G Gobinda Patra of Jilundi area under Bhanjanagar police limits on Thursday. The seizure includes 2.8 kg gold and 3 kg silver ornaments. Gobinda, who has been arrested, is the father-in-law of the main accused in the robbery, G Bulu Patra of Aska.
A team of nine armed robbers had looted a jewellery shop at Balipadar and decamped with 5 kg gold, 20 kg silver ornaments and `10 lakh in cash. During investigation, police arrested five persons and seized 10 gm of gold and 3 kg silver ornaments from them. However, Bulu managed to escape to Surat with the remaining ornaments and cash. Two days back, he sent some cash and ornaments to his father-in-law.
