SAMBALPUR: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has created a distinct identity and reputation among coal consumers because of its quality consciousness, said Chairman-cum-Managing Director of MCL AN Sahay on Monday.

He was speaking at inaugural function of Quality Fortnight 2014-15 at MCL. Administering the “Quality Oath” to the employees, Sahay congratulated them for the company’s excellent performance in ensuring coal quality.

He said proactive management and technological interventions have ensured negligible grade slippage of coal being provided to the consumers by MCL, which contributes to one forth of total coal production of Coal India. Emphasising on importance of total blast-less coal production through surface miners in MCL to ensure coal quality, the CMD advised to ensure zero grade slippage in coal being provided to the consumers. “We must ensure that the consumer is billed only for the grade of coal he gets from us and not more,” Sahay added.

Among others, Chief Vigilance Officer Deepak Srivastava, Director (Technical/Operations) AK Tiwari, Director (Personnel) PC Panigrahi spoke.
