Fake Currencies Worth Rs 4L Seized in Rayagada

RAYAGADA: Fake currency notes with a face value of ` 4.73 lakh were seized from a man at Chandili area of Rayagada district on Tuesday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the venue of a festival which had been on since the Shivaratri at Antamoda village and arrested the accused identified as Mushaka Raisingh.

The fake notes were recovered from his possession when he was purchasing food and other materials from the market of Antamoda village on Tuesday, Rayagada SDPO Y Jagannath Rao said on Wednesday. Suspecting the bulk purchase order, traders alerted the police, who raided the market and arrested Mushaka.

 Interrogation is on to trace the source of fake currencies and the persons behind it.
