BJP Flays Government on Legislative Council Move

BHUBANESWAR: Leader of BJP legislature party Basanta Panda on Thursday criticised the State Government for ignoring the Opposition political parties on vital issues including the proposed legislative council formation.

Reacting to the formation of a five-member committee to study the functioning of legislative councils in other States, Panda said the ruling BJD has neither consulted the BJP legislature party nor Nitesh Gangdev who has been nominated as a member of the committee.

The BJD is trying to demolish all established democratic norms which is not a good sign. The committee constituted by the State Government on Wednesday has three members from BJD and one each from Congress and BJP.
