Maoists Call Bandh Over Obama Visit

BHUBANESWAR: The CPI (Maoist) has called for a bandh in five districts of the State on Republic Day opposing the visit of US President Barack Obama to India.

The Ghumsar-Bansadhara-Nagabali Division of the outlawed outfit on Thursday issued an audio tape in which the unit’s secretary Umakant said the bandh will be observed in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts.

The Left Wing Extremist outfit said Narendra Modi Government at the Centre has gone back on its words and is supporting the US, which is behind the proliferation of capitalism in the entire world, instead of addressing the suffering of the masses.

Economy is in distress, debt burden has gone up, child labour population is rising but the Government is busy pushing industrialisation, the CPI (Maoist) said.

All those opposing the corporatisation of national resources are being hounded while rebels are hunted down by Operation Green Hunt, the audio tape said and requested the people to support the bandh.
