BHUBANESWAR:Playback singer Trupti Das has been appointed as the president of Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi, the State’s apex body for performing arts. The proposal submitted by the Culture Department in this regard was approved by the Chief Minister on Thursday.
The post had fallen vacant after the demise of Sarat Pujari in May last year and Director of Culture Department Sushil Das was in additional charge of the post.
Apart from Das, Odissi music exponent Guru Ramahari Das was appointed as the vice-president and Odia poet Aswini Kumar Mishra as the secretary of the Sangeet Natak Akademi.
Earlier this year, the State Government had appointed Dhira Mallick as the vice-president of the Sangeet Natak Akademi.
