2 Killed as Rice Mill Container Bursts

BHUBANESWAR:  Two persons died and another sustained injuries when the parboiling container in a rice mill burst on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred in Bhagawati Rice Mill at Junagarh in Kalahandi district. The deceased have been identified as Durbasha Guru and Kailash Patra, both 50 years of age and employees of the rice mill.

Sources said they were standing near the parboiling container in which water was boiled when it suddenly burst. Guru and Patra were rushed to the Junagarh health centre where they succumbed to injuries in the evening.

Another woman, who was working near the container, sustained burn injuries when the hot water fell on her. She has also been admitted to the Junagarh health centre and her condition is stated to be critical. A case has been registered.
