Four Ganja From WB Peddlers Held in Odisha

Five ganja peddlers from West Bengal were arrested and contraband worth Rs 3 lakh seized from them at three places in Odisha's Ganjam district, officials said today.

BERHAMPUR: Five ganja peddlers from West Bengal were arrested and contraband worth Rs 3 lakh seized from them at three places in Odisha's Ganjam district, officials said today.

The accused persons, who had procured the contraband from Mohana area of Gajapati district, were waiting at three different bus stands near here yesterday when they were caught, excise inspector S K Azad said. Three teams of excise personnel nabbed the accused persons who were waiting for the bus at Punjikanya Chhaka, Mahuri Kalua Chhaka and Gate Bazar area to go to the railway station, he said.

Around 40-kg ganja, worth about Rs 3 lakh were seized from them, said Azad adding that the contraband, packed in the air-bags was probably being sent to West Bengal. The accused persons were identified as Farooq Abdullah Sheikh, Nazibula Hussein, Helal Hussein, Abdul Kayam and Salim Sheikh. All of them belong to Murshidabad in West Bengal, he said.
