Minor Reshuffle in IAS Cadre after Four Go on Deputation

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government on Wednesday effected a minor reshuffle in the bureaucracy after four IAS officers went on Central deputation.

 Principal Secretary, Science and Technology, CJ Venugopal, has been appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Governor. However, he will be in additional charge of Science and Technology Department, said a notification of the General Administration Department.

The Governor’s Secretary post fell vacant after 1988 batch IAS officer Parag Gupta was allowed to join as Joint Secretary in the Department of Food Processing Industries in the Union Government.

Principal Secretary, General Administration and Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) GVV Sharma, has been given additional charge of Managing Director, Odisha State Disaster Management Agency (OSDMA) and the Department of Administrative Reforms.

On return from study leave, Vijay Arora has been appointed as Secretary of Public Enterprises Department, while Ranjana Chopra will take charge as Secretary of School and Mass Education Department in place of Usha Padhee.

The reshuffle was necessary after four Odisha cadres officers went on Central deputation. While School and Mass Education Secretary Usha Padhee has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, her husband and Tourism and Culture Secretary Arabinda Padhee has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Fertilisers.
