BHUBANESWAR: The Cyber Crime Cell of the Crime Branch (CB) has tracked down the source of pictures which were circulated as images of ‘Brahma Parivartan’ rituals leading to public outrage in the State.

The ‘patali’ picture showing the burial of the idols actually was taken from the website of an ashram located in Bhadrak district and passed off as a real photograph.

Earlier, the one circulated as ‘Brahma’ was found out to be copied from YouTube. It was a ‘Matsya Shaligram’. The third picture was also confirmed as fake. The Crime Branch sources said though the original picture sources have been traced, hunt for the uploaders is still on.

“We have sought server data from the management of social media site Facebook to know the persons who first started spreading the images. But it could take some time,” the sources added.
