Guard Stabbed at Capital Railway Station

BHUBANESWAR: A 40-year-old private security guard was attacked by miscreants on Monday night after he resisted them from stealing iron rods near platform-5 of the city railway station.

The security man, identified as Kamalakant Mohanta, was in charge of guarding the materials stocked near the platform which is under construction.

At around 8 pm, a group of six persons arrived at the place where Mohanta was on duty and started abusing him. All of them were under the influence of alcohol and tried to take a number of iron rods piled at the construction site.

As Mohanta objected them, the miscreants first pelted stones and then stabbed him with a knife and fled. He was rushed by co-workers to the Capital Hospital from where he was shifted to SCB Medical Cuttack as his condition deteriorated. Till the last report came in, his condition was stated to be critical.

Bhubaneswar GRP has registered a case in this connection and launched a manhunt to nab the assailants.
