Child Development Project Officer Held on Graft Charge

BALANGIR: Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Titlagarh, Sabita Dora and Anganwadi worker Nirupama Saraf on the charge of accepting illegal gratification of Rs.70,000 from a woman for approving a bill.

Sources said the accused had demanded the money from Padmini Ghivela of Parsukuna village under Titlagarh police limits of the district for approving the bill towards supply of 'Chatua' (powder of cereals) for May and June. Ghivela informed the Vigilance who laid a trap on Friday.

As per the plan, Ghivela handed over the bribe money of Rs.70,000 to Saraf who received it on behalf of Dora at PWD Chowk and kept the money in her bag. Later, Saraf went to Dora's house in an MUV where Vigilance team caught them red-handed.

The team also seized Rs.65,500 from bedroom of Dora and Rs.4,500 from Saraf's bag. After a search, the Vigilance sleuths arrested them and seized relevant document. A case has been registered.
