Students Display Arithmetic Skills

BHUBANESWAR: More than 1000 students from 70 schools and learning centres across the State participated in ninth All Odisha UCMAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition held here on Saturday.

The competition, organised by Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic Systems (UCMAS), an educational organisation, was conducted for students from lower KG to Class VIII. The participants were divided into three age groups between four and 12.

There were 27 groups who took the tests which continued for five hours under five qualifying stages.

On the basis of performance, judges chose the topper - champion of champions, second position - champion and six runners up from each group. Total 200 students won the prizes.

Managing Director of UCMAS, Rajasthan, Alok Saain, CEO of Dharitri Adyasha Satpathy, Khurda Collector Niranjan Sahoo and Rural Development Minister Badri Narayan Patra would felicitate the winners during the prize distribution ceremony scheduled to be held on Sunday, organisers said.
