4 Flats Burgled, Two Guards Detained

BHUBANESWAR:Burglars broke into an apartment in Bomikhal area and decamped with valuables worth several lakhs from four flats late on Saturday.

However, the manner in which the burglary took place at Satyam Tower has left the local police suspicious about the role of security guards, two of whom have been detained.

The incident was spotted by some of the neighbouring flat owners who reported the matter to Laxmi Sagar Police. Preliminary investigation suggested that the burglars entered four flats on two floors. All the owners/tenants were away and the flats had been locked when the burglary took place. On Sunday morning, the neighbours saw the flats opened and ransacked and informed the police, which found valuables missing from the houses. The total damage could run into several lakhs of rupees.

The housing society members found that the two security guards were absent from duty. Asked about the incident, the guard duo apparently told the cops that they had seen two youths entering the flats and captured them. From their possession, the guards claimed, they seized some valuables. However, why the security personnel did not alert the residential society members led to suspicion and police detained the two.
