UPS Stolen from Secretariat

BHUBANESWAR: The State Secretariat was in the news again on Monday. Days after a youth entered the Secretariat with a knife and threatened an employee, a theft from a Minister’s chamber has raised serious questions over the security system.

An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system of a computer was stolen from the chamber of Cooperation Minister Damodar Rout. Though the Minister dismissed it as a minor matter, the accused is yet to be nabbed though the incident occurred a week ago.

To top it all, the locks of Rout’s chamber were found broken. But the keys were also missing. Besides, keys of several other chambers of ministers were missing which led to an unpleasant situation. The keys had to be broken to open the chambers. The theft was brought to the notice of General Administration Department by the Minister’s office.
