First Phase Merit List of Degree Colleges Out

BHUBANESWAR: The Higher Education Department on Wednesday announced the merit list for first phase admission to over 700 degree colleges in the State.

The city-based BJB Autonomous College continued to top the list of colleges posting the highest cut-off percentage. Here, the cut-off for Biological Science is 90.6 pc, Physical Science 92.33, Commerce 83 and 73.33 pc in Arts.

The BJB College continues to be the first choice of students with a maximum number of applications being received for admission to Biological Science and Physical Science.

As far as Biological Science and Physical Science is concerned, Basic Science & Humanities (Degree) College, Bhubaneswar trailed BJB with 90.4 pc for Physical Science and 87.5 for Biological Science.

In Fakir Mohan College in Balasore, the cut-off for Biological Science was 77.2 and 82.67 pc for Physical Science, while it is 64.5 pc for Arts and 59 pc for Commerce. Stewart Science College in Cuttack posted cut-off of 81.83 pc and 79.67 pc for Physical Science and Biological Science respectively.

The first phase admission will be held from July 16 to 21 except on July 18 and July 19.

The second selection merit list will be out on July 25 and admission from it would be conducted from July 27 to 29.

Plus Two Instant Results announced

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on Wednesday announced the results of Plus Two instant examination. Of a total of 9,065 students who had appeared for the examination, 8,123 passed registering a pass percentage of 89.61 per cent.

CHSE conducted the examination for students who failed in one subject but scored a total of 210 marks or more in Arts, Science, Commerce, Vocational and Distance Education subjects. The instant examinations began at 33 centres on June 28 and concluded on July 1.

Chairman of CHSE Basudev Chhatoi said students can download their results from www.chseodisha.nic.in and www.orissaresults.in. He said the Council had decided to announce the results of the Instant examination at the earliest to allow students get admission to Plus Three streams in the current academic session.

College authorities have been asked to collect instant examination results and related documents from July 18 from CHSE head office in Bhubaneswar.
