Contractor Murder: NBW against 23 Sought

BHUBANESWAR:The Commissionerate Police has submitted a petition to the SDJM Court seeking non-bailable warrant (NBW) against 23 persons, including prime accused Rajendra Barik, in the murder of construction material supplier Dilip Nayak.

Rajendra, along with 22 others, has been at large since June 18 when he gunned down Dilip after a group clash at Patrapada. So far, three persons have been arrested by police including the prime accused’s elder brother Jaya Barik.

If the court allows an NBW, Commissionerate Police will have the power to seek confiscation of Rajendra’s property as per the provisions of Criminal Procedure Code. This is considered as a move to mount pressure on the singer-turned-local strongman.
